May 2016 goals

2 May 2016

My goals for May are a curious mix of hard things I appear to be putting off (since they’ve lingered on my lists for the last few months…) and fun things I’m looking forward to enjoying. Maybe, though, the latter is just what I need to push through and accomplish the former! Hopefully, a little more time (which has been scarce lately – my Mom stayed with us for three weeks last month, and I happily chose to hang with her instead of being on my laptop!), is all I’ll need.

Revisiting my goals for April:
Read “Boundaries” for the NR Book Club
Successfully take work trips to Atlanta and Hilton Head with my Mom and June in tow (Atlanta trip was successful, HH trip was postponed!)
Prep our raised bed and plant our seedlings
Assemble and hang June’s mobile (so happy I checked this off!!)
Order favorite Instagram prints from 2015
Get an estimate from one more landscaping company
Apply to our HOA to have a tree removed (eep)
Finish our will
Begin waking up at 6:30am (not so much)
Begin getting ready for bed at 10pm (see above…)

May goals:
— Get an estimate from one more landscaping company
— Apply to our HOA to have a tree removed
— Finish our will (People, this is staying on the list until it is done. And then I will write a post about it.)
— Master an updo from the Small Things archive (I’m thinking this one.)
— Paint my toenails (I’m a little embarrassed this is actually a goal.)
— Read “168 Hours” for the NR Book Club
— Read two novels
— Plan for and enjoy our weekend trip to Bald Head Island
— Have fun with our weekend visitors – John’s parents and sister + family one weekend, and his other sister + family and two aunts another! So excited for the cousins to meet!!!

As a reminder, here are my 2016 guideposts. If you’ve posted your goals somewhere, I’d love to see – or just drop them in the comments!

Paint my toenails is sometimes a goal too, ha! Maybe because I know its easy but I usually put it off? Sounds like a fun month ahead! :)

  2. Aren’t the azalea gardens beautiful?! And Bald Head Island is one of my all-time favorite getaways… it’s simply beautiful and so tranquil.

I (finally) got back into monthly goal setting, and my May goals are here: https://stephseekingjoy.wordpress.com/2016/05/02/may-2016-goals/

  3. Haha, finishing a will has been on my to-do list forever too! :) Sounds like you have a wonderful, full month ahead and I’m super impressed with how much you are hosting visitors! Have fun in BHI – such a magical place! :)

  4. That sweet family photo! June looks so much like both of y’all, I love it!

My favorite thing about the Nancy Ray book club this month is that I’ve already read the book, so I shouldn’t fall as far behind as I did the previous months :-)

I love that painting your toe nails is on the list! Just this morning in the shower I looked at my toes and thought that I finally need to paint them in anticipation of the warm weather that is forecasted for our area.
I really only have two goals this month: To manage a move from on country to another gracefully and to pray without ceasing. The latter is definitely required to manage the former ;-)
I will also read 168 hours this month and would love to know what two novels you plan on reading as well. If you wouldn’t mind sharing :-)

  7. Friend! I FEEL YOU on the toenails! Seriously.

Also, I have had “finish our wills” on our list for a long time too. And Milly is now almost 1 and I still can’t believe we haven’t finished it! Slightly embarrassing. I am definitely looking forward to that blogpost!

  8. Em, I love your honesty with these goals! The toenails one cracks me up, and I should definitely have added that to my May goals as well. haha I pray you have a productive but also restful month! I seconded what you commented on Nancy’s blog about sharing her Sabbath routine . . . I always love to see how other women approach that day so I can get some ideas! :)

I posted my goals over here! http://dianakerr.com/may-goals-2016/

    Hugs + high 5s! Diana :)

  9. Your goal setting posts are always inspiring! And I’m definitely considering putting “painting my toenails” on my list of goals. I so feel you!
I posted mine here, if you’re interested: http://www.kerstinthomas.com

  10. Painting toenails is a good goal. No shame in that! For me: I’m hoping to get better at budgeting and tracking expenses this month (first tri exhaustion and nausea is making want to go out to buy a meal 3x a day and that just isn’t an option right now! Lol). Also celebrate Mother’s Day with some of my favorite moms in my life. Happy early Mother’s Day!!
