J and I went to see Julie & Julia on Sunday and we both loved it. Seriously: it. was. so. good. Meryl Streep was amazing. The script was hilarious. The food looked delectable. I wanted to be a guest at Amy Adams’ final rooftop dinner party.

But what I really fell in love with was the Paris of the 1940s and 50s that the film (or at least half of the film) was set against. It looked luminous and alive, with just the right amount of grit thrown in to be believable.

This movie may have increased my desire to visit Paris 1,000 fold.

Have you seen it?

P.S. I now reeaaaallly really want to host a Julia Child party. Ladies could wear high-waisted skirts and striped collared shirts and pearls and Ecole des Gourmands patches and little velvet hats. Gentlemen could wear suspenders and pinstriped suits. We could listen to French music and eat lots of butter and chocolate. And lobster. I think it would be divine. Who wants an invite?

Le sigh…

No, but really Meryl Streep was absolutley fabulous! I absolutely want an invite to that party. Also, I may have mastered my own Julia Child impression that could be used throughout the evening..

Meryl was amazing! A-MAZE-ING. I never really got the whole Meryl Streep ga-ga routine, but now I totally do.

I too would be happy to see this movie. So afraid this whole WORK business starting up again will interfere with things like that… — RCA

I am going to see the movie with "the ladies" this week! Can't wait. And… I want an invite to the dinner although I would share my lobster or if someone was really nice (maybe gave me their chocolate?!) I'd give up the lobster!!
