Vintage silver at the reception

19 April 2012

It’s been awhile since I’ve talked about collecting silver for our wedding! We’re pretty much done, thanks to some kind family members and friends who heard about my mission — whoo! — but are still searching for a few key pieces. I have more vegetable dishes and trays than I can shake a stick at, but would love one or two larger champagne buckets or trophy cups.

In the meantime, though, I thought I would share some of the images that are inspiring me on my silver pilgrimage!

Jessica Claire (flowers by Flowerwild) and Picotte Weddings

Katie Stoops (flowers by Merriment Events via Southern Weddings) and Meredith Perdue

Charley Star (flowers by Bash, Please via Style Me Pretty)

Michael + Anna Costa (flowers by Florette) and Lisa Lefkowitz (flowers by Ariella Chezar via Snippet & Ink)

Steve Steinhardt (flowers by Holly Flora via Inspired by This) and Thuss + Farrell

I haven’t decided yet what the tarnish level of the pieces will be, but I’m thinking not see-your-reflection polished, and not dull as a doornail, either. Somewhere in between. I want the overall aesthetic to be clean, not vintage, so I think erring on the side of more polished is probably a smart decision. Time to break out the rags!

P.S. Want to catch up on the silver hunt? I’ve posted about it here, here, and here.

  1. Your wedding is going to be so gorgeous, Emily! I love all your inspiration images and posts.

These are such great finds/ideas! In your hunt, have you come across any gold/bronze-toned items? Our reception is in Virginia horse country and you’ve given me some inspiration here! Love the silver but gold is one of our colors and this might be a fun way to incorporate it.

  3. Hi Stacey! It’s so interesting that you would ask that, because I was just saying to my friend on our last trip to the flea market that it seemed like there were a ton of gold/bronze/brass pieces around, way more than usual! Fingers crossed it’s the same in your area, and best of luck with your planning!

Excellent news! Thanks for the lovely inspiration. I’ll let you know if I find anything!
